Baptism

After we gather to remember that Jesus walked out of a tomb, a few of our own will walk into the water.

Baptism is one of the oldest, most visceral acts of Christian faith — a public declaration that says: I am not who I was. I belong to Jesus. My story is caught up in his. It's not magic. It's not the moment you're saved. It's the moment you let everyone see it.

And one of the best things about being a church is getting to witness that moment together.

On April 5th, right after our gathering on Easter Sunday, we'll celebrate as members of our own community take this step. For the person going under the water, it's a stake in the ground — a moment they'll point back to for the rest of their lives. For the rest of us, it's a chance to remember our own story, and to celebrate what God is doing in the people sitting next to us every week.
