Steps Sermon Series

Most of us know something in us needs to change. A habit, a pattern in a relationship, the anxiety that runs the show, the person we keep promising to become. We've tried. We've made the resolutions and downloaded the apps. And we're still stuck. Not because we don't want to be different, but because trying harder can't make us new. In 1935 a small group of desperate people found a way out and called it the Twelve Steps. Millions have been changed through them since.

Here's what most people don't know: Alcoholics Anonymous got those steps from the church. They came out of a small fellowship of people trying to follow Jesus in everyday life. Somewhere along the way, the church stopped practicing them.

For six weeks we're taking them back. Using John Ortberg's book Steps as a guide, we'll walk through the Twelve Steps not as a program for addicts, but as an honest, grace-shaped way for anyone to find their way back to God and become who they were made to be. You don't have to have it together to start. That's the whole point.
